Isuzu Motors South Africa managed to record a positive year of sales in 2020. With the commercial vehicle market dropping 18.9%, Isuzu still managed to increase its market share by 0.4% to post a total of 2587 sales for the year, this represents 13.4% of the total market in South Africa and makes Isuzu the number 1 Japanese Manufacturer in the country.

“2020 was a tough year for everyone and we found ourselves facing unprecedented challenges at every level of the business. I must commend team IMSA for a job well done under very difficult circumstances. Isuzu trucks continue to demonstrate the long-term benefits of strong customer service and relationships. We are also very proud to have such strong and competitive products in the key segments of the commercial vehicle market,” said Craig Uren, Sales, Service, and Marketing Senior Vice President.

Isuzu Trucks sales show its position as an ever-popular choice for fleets which ties back to its reputation of building tough, affordable vehicles suitable for a wide range of applications.

“Engineering and technology is a key factor in the success of our products in this space. The Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT) for example is an outstanding feature that brings real-world benefits to fleet operators as it offers the significantly more economical operation of the trucks due to less wear on transmission components,” added Uren.

Uren ended by saying “The Isuzu sales and marketing teams were able to adapt quickly to the changing environment with creative, innovative solutions to offer value to customers while driving traffic to our dealerships. We also commend our dealer partners who were able to make the necessary changes and embrace the new technology and methods necessary to operate successfully under Covid-19 regulations.”
